How the thesis formed

Four backgrounds, one conclusion

Enterprise and government IT taught the discipline: infrastructure, cybersecurity, continuity, governance, audit and the long grind of delivering projects inside regulated environments — including technology leadership for a $74 million Justice Center project.

Local business and decades of direct hospitality and customer-service work taught the reality: how scattered, duplicated and fragile a small business's digital presence actually is, and how little of it the owner controls.

Long-term domain investing taught the architecture: naming is structure, and a portfolio organized around geography and category behaves like a namespace rather than a collection.

Together they point to the same conclusion — local information needs an authoritative record underneath it, not another platform on top of it.

Ownership relationships

  • Local Internet Holdings

Owns and stewards the strategic portfolio, intellectual property and operating assets.

  • Local Internet Group

Develops, operates and supports digital experiences, services and partner relationships.

  • Pete Gould

Founder and architect responsible for the original portfolio strategy, the Business Record thesis and the Local Internet architecture.

Ownership, development and operation are deliberately described separately. Holdings owns and stewards; the Group develops and operates; Pete is the founder and architect.
